At Uptempo!, a program of TKI Urban Energy and TKI CLICKNL, a team of specialists investigates how the energy transition can be accelerated and scaled up. The transition to sustainable (renewable) energy limits CO2 emissions and is therefore one of the core goals of the energy transition.

To inspire people and make them aware of the innovative possibilities that exist to make a home or utility building more sustainable, the 'matching platform' uptempo.nu has been launched.

The challenge

At the start of this project it was clear that Uptempo!'s platform inspires the market. Like Honey was asked to find out how this platform could be successfully expanded to further stimulate sustainable construction. How do you activate the target group? And how do you increase the number of matches on uptempo.nu?

Our solution

To solve this challenge, we conducted several experiments using a growth hacking method:

Understanding the marketing funnel: We first mapped the existing funnel to discover how many website visitors there were, through which channels they came, how they behaved and whether they actually viewed innovations.

Growth hack experiments: Using growth hack principles, we have conducted several consecutive experiments to improve the weakest links in the chain. This way, you test assumptions and solutions on a small, controlled scale and when it works, you roll it out across the whole. In the various experiments, we tested visual and textual adjustments on the website and changed the focus of the running Google Search ads.

THE RESULT

This method led to various insights:

Increase in innovations viewed: At the start of the campaign, 19% of visitors viewed the sustainable innovations on uptempo.nu. After implementing a few successful experiments, this percentage increased to 45%. As a result, the website achieved enormous growth in results.

Impressive Google Search Ads Conversion Rate: In addition, the experiments in the field of Google Search ads have shown a successful strategy. The goal was, as above, to view innovations, which in practice is a click to an external website. Google Ads ultimately achieved a 130% increase in goal conversion and a conversion rate of 96,15%.
